ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
To create and to implement creative, sustainable and transformative economic, community, and housing development programs for the greater Watts community.
OUR VISION
Working together towards a prosperous future for the people of the greater Watts community.
OUR HISTORY
The Macedonia Community Development Corporation (“MCDC”) was founded in January 2015 by the Macedonia Baptist Church of Los Angeles. The Macedonia Baptist Church of Los Angeles is the first Black Baptist Church in Greater Watts and was established in 1908. The mission of the MCDC has not changed from its inception and continues to support and to empower the people of Watts and the surrounding areas. The MCDC has retained its focus by identifying and addressing disparities in economic opportunity, youth development and community health.
From a grant funded through the Federal Government of the Office of Community Services (“OCS”), MCDC was able to launch its economic development programs in 2016. Services to support these programs continued until late 2019. The newly revitalized MCDC resumed services to the community in 2022 through the offering of business services and community health services workshops. Since that time, MCDC has successfully obtained additional public funding from the City of Los Angeles, State of California and through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
